TUESDAY TIPS

blog address: http://www.sand1.wordpress.com

I began writing Tuesday Tips as a way to keep in touch with my grandchildren and to help them navigate their lives.  I began reading self help books when I was in my twenties and going through hard times.  I'm still reading them.  It helps me to stay positive and to keep on learning new ways of living and being. Right now, over 100 people receive the tips by e-mail every Tuesday.  They are mostly family, friends and people I meet along the way like the men and women who work at my favorite grocery store.  Actually it's my favorite grocery store because of them.  I also  began a blog at http://sand1.wordpress.com/ which has received well over 9,000 hits that I update every Tuesday.  I keep religion and politics out of the tips on purpose because everybody has their own.

Here are a few tips from the first year.

Week 35 - "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."  Oprah

Talk is cheap but actions seldom lie.  If you're still not sure of someone, check out their actions over time.  Sometimes it's hard to face the fact that the actions of someone you care about may not be the best.

Week 42 - "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."  Gandhi

Believe in yourself even when no one else does.  According to some recent studies, when you begin to believe that what you want is possible, your brain will take over the job of helping you accomplish that possibility.
